2022 was a special year to everyone. After the dark days of Covid, lockdown and uncertainties, the world finally saw a ray of hope in 2022. Covid cases came down and hence core industries which contribute majorly to the economy like Tourism and Infrastructure started booming all over again. For a city like Mysuru where tourism is a major source of income, this was a year which was full of prosperity. Have a glimpse of major tourism and infrastructural developments that took place in Mysuru during 2022.
Tourism:
- Demand for Ambari bus rides (double decker open roof top bus) surged. Special arrangements were made by KSTDC in order to attract more footfalls.
- A proposal to construct a ropeway at Chamundi Hills was made by the State Govt. to the Central Govt.
- State Govt. released funds to create AR/VR materials for 15 tourist places. Pilot project of this will be done in Mysuru Palace.
- Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the celebration of International Day of Yoga at Mysuru Palace.
- This year, the Dasara celebration was glorious & vibrant. After two years of minimalistic festivities due to Covid, there was a grand celebration this time.
- Mysuru’s first Botanical Garden was inaugurated in Lingambudhi Lake.
- South India’s first river gallery called ‘Kaveri Gallery’ was inaugurated in Mysuru.
- The 5th Vande Bharat Train was launched between Mysuru and Chennai.
Infrastructure:
- Funds were allocated to Airport Runway Expansion. Central Govt. ordered to prepare DPR for Chennai – Bangalore – Mysore high speed rail corridor.
- ‘Beyond Bengaluru Cluster Seeds Fund’ for start-ups was decided to be established in Mysuru.
- Indigo launched a new flight from Mysuru to Hubballi.
- ISMC announced launching India’s first semi-conductor unit in Mysuru.
- A proposal was raised to prepare DPR for the peripheral ring road.
- 18 acres of land was sanctioned at Yelwala to build Kidwai Hospital.
- A proposal was submitted to sanction 19 acres of land to build an International Cricket Stadium in Mysuru.
