It has been officially announced that the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi will be attending the International Day of Yoga celebrations that will be held at Mysuru on 21st of June, 2022.
Mysuru is known as the Yoga Capital of the World. The city is thronged by people from all over the world keen to master the ancient art and science of Yoga. Mysuru has also etched its name in the Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Yoga Demonstration or Lesson at a Single Venue. The event was held as a part of the International Day of Yoga in 2017 and as many as 55,506 people performed Yoga to attain the record.
This year’s International Yoga Day celebrations at Mysuru will be buzzing with festive fervour. Lakhs of people are expected to participate in the mega event. With the Prime Minister of the country confirmed to be in attendance, preparations are on in full swing. The whole city is waiting to witness an event of mammoth scale that will mark a huge mark in the history of Yoga.
The connection between Mysuru and Yoga:
It is due to the untiring efforts of Yoga Guru Thirumalai Krishnamacharya & the then Maharaja of Mysore, HH Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar that Yoga still finds relevance & is indispensable to the modern world.
In 1926, the Maharaja met Krishnamacharya at Varanasi and invited him to teach him and his family Yoga. The Maharaja, whose many ailments were cured due to Yoga, asked Krishnamacharya to start a Yogashala, an independent Yoga institution so that the benefits of Yoga could reach the people. He also sent Krishnamacharya around the country to give lectures and demonstrations to promote Yoga.
Krishnamacharya’s students included Yoga’s most renowned exponents & teachers like B.K.S. Iyengar, Indra Devi, Pattabhi Jois, TKV Desikachar, Srivatsa Ramaswami & AG Mohan who have ensured that the brand of Mysore Yoga has lived on and prospered.
India’s first semiconductor fab unit to come up in Mysuru
Mysuru is witnessing rapid overall development. Being known mostly for its culture, tradition and heritage, Mysuru needed a boost in infrastructure and other technical aspects. With the meticulous efforts of public representatives and bureaucrats, India’s first Semiconductor chip fab unit is coming up at Kochanahalli, Mysuru.
International semiconductor consortium (ISMC) has announced that the company will invest Rs.22,900 Cr. (3 Billion). It is said that ISMC plans to build a 65-nanometer analog semiconductor fabrication factory, which is expected to employ 1,500 people over a period of 7 years. Another 10,000 jobs will be supported indirectly.
ISMC will develop the factory on 150 acres of land in Mysuru’s Kochanahalli Industrial area. With this, Mysuru is going to witness immense all-round development. Employment opportunities will drastically increase. Mysuru will be identified in the World map to have the one and only Semiconductor chip fab unit of the country, attracting many more potential investments.
