The Tourism Industry that was one of the hardest-hit sectors during the pandemic, is seeing a revival of sorts now. To boost this sector further, the State Government has allocated a budget bonanza to help Mysuru tourism industry take-off. Necessary funds have been allotted to the runway expansion project of Mysuru Airport. Central Govt. is also preparing a DPR for the 460 kms long Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru high-speed rail corridor. Tourist Guides will be paid Rs.2,000/month by the Government.
Under Parvatamala scheme, a proposal to construct a ropeway to the Chamundi Hills will be made to the Central Govt. This will boost tourism. Necessary action will be taken to ensure that the Hoysala Temples at Belur, Halebidu & Somanathapura are declared as World Heritage Sites. It is also proposed to create AR/VR materials for 15 tourist sites of the state at a cost of Rs.15 crore. The pilot project will be undertaken at Mysuru Palace. The famous sound and light show of the Palace is expected to get a facelift with this new proposal. Once done, it will be an amazing attraction to the tourists.
Apart from tourism, a Global Technology Centre Plug & Play facility will be established at the Karnataka State Open University. Micro clusters of Agarbathi situated at Mysuru will be developed by the Government. In order to encourage start-ups in Mysuru, ‘Beyond Bengaluru Cluster Seed Fund’ for Start-ups will be established in Mysuru.
Both the infrastructure and the tourism of Mysuru have been largely rewarded in this budget. The implementation of these announcements will surely develop the connectivity, tourism and infrastructure of Mysuru.
